Excellence in service has been the lighting company’s primary goal from the time of its establishment in 1971. Today, they proudly serve Fresno, Inyo, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, San Luis Obispo, and Tulare Counties.

The Challenge

Like many small and medium-sized businesses, the company had successfully managed their own IT from the beginning. However, years of consistent growth coupled with more complex technology needs, required the owner to constantly be pulled away from more pressing matters to resolve technical issues. The business recognized that they needed a competent technology partner to manage their IT behind the scenes, while they focused on doing what they do best.

The Solution

At the recommendation of another valued Kotman client, the business initially engaged Kotman Technology to perform project work beginning in 2014. After four years of working together, they became a managed service client in 2018; gaining access to the full suite of Kotman support, security, and strategy services. Our first task was to replace some of their aged equipment with more powerful and secure alternatives. Their network room was also cleaned up and consolidated - a Kotman standard that not only improves efficiency and security but also looks wicked cool. They were the first Kotman client to implement our 43” monitors, which allowed them to view building and landscape lighting plans on one screen – a huge win for them.

The Outcome

Bringing the company up to the Kotman standard has not only prevented Randy and his team from having to update, fix, and troubleshoot their own technical issues but has increased productivity and provided a blueprint to support their future growth. With Kotman managing their day-to-day IT needs, the lighting business has more time and resources to focus on “lighting the world, one fixture at a time.”
